An early Victorian walnut cased Grandmother clock with 8 day bell striking verge movement, fully restored and working c.1860. The figured walnut William & Mary style case with slim proportions,... moulded cornice to the hood and blind fretwork panel below, barley twist columns to either side of the hood and view windows showing the movement to the sides. Slim long trunk with moulded edge to the door, the door and the base with panels of figured walnut strung with fruitwood, matching decoration to the sides. Sat on a moulded plinth base. The 8 day weight driven movement with rare original verge escapement, count wheel striking on a bell on the hour. Engraved gilded brass dial with rose decoration sat behind the centre of the hands and Roman numerals to the chapter ring, cast spandrels to the corners; original hand cut decorative blued steel hands. Presented in superb original condition with a rich colour and original patina, the movement fully overhauled and working. Measures 64" high x 12" wide x 7.5" deep at the hood x 6.5" wide trunk.
