A top quality early Victorian solid carved figured oak frame library chair with superb oxblood hide upholstery c.1850. The curved back with deep buttoned oxblood red hide upholstery sat over a turned railed gallery, carved lion mask corbels to the ends of each arm. Matching sprung deep buttoned seat with moulded show frame below. Sat on turned and carved legs with semi concealed brass and porcelain castors, splayed legs to the rear. The design in the manner of Gillows, Lancaster; presented in superb condition with a rich polish. Very sturdy, comfortable and useable. Measures 27.5" wide x 28..." deep x 33" high to the top of chair back. Seat height is 16". Stock number 38276.
