An fine quality original signed oil on board by sought after and collected artist Dorothea Sharp (1873 - 1955) entitled 'Sunshine and Shadows'. This superb oil on board painted in typical style of th...e artist and the subject of children on a sunny day being one of the more sought after. Depicting two girls on a rocky moor with bright golden yellow gorse and a summer sky, the herd of goats grazing in the foreground. Superb impasto to the legs of the goats and gorse skilfully painted to bring them alive on the board. Signed bottom left by the artist and presented in a quality swept washed gilt frame; original titled label to the rear in the artists hand, along with an old Dublin gallery label. Dorothea Sharp trained to be an artist from the age of 21 and was inspired having seen the work of Monet in Paris. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artist along with many others. She was regarded by many as the greatest living artist of her time. Today she has become one of the big names in the art world, her impressionist style suiting both traditional and modern settings. Presented in superb original condition with no damage or repairs.
