Charles I Oak Joint Stool

A superb Charles I period oak joint stool with cable carved top rails typical of the Salisbury area c.1640. Single piece top with moulded edge secured by hand forged iron studs. The moulded top rails with cable carved frieze, parallel turned legs with pegged joints set to the corners, supporting stretchers to the base; original hoofed feet to each leg. The design typical of the Beckham family workshops, Salisbury (reference Chinnery p.407). Presented in superb original unrestored with excellent patina and deep colour. Measures 18" long x 10.5" deep x 21.5" high. Stock number 38473.
