A Yorkshire school adzed oak back stool by former Thompson's of Kilburn craftsman Alan 'acorn man' Grainger, with trademark acorn to the back. Adzed finish to all surfaces, the hand formed club sha...ped seat with narrow upright to the back with heart shaped fretted decoration forming the handle, trademark inset carved acorn below; secured below the seat with a hand formed peg. The three hand formed legs with visible joints showing in the seat surface. Alan Grainger followed his father who started Acorn industries in the 1930's, this unusual piece presented in superb original condition with a rich patina. Measures 14.5" wide x 18" deep at the seat x 32" high to top of back x 14" seat height. Stock number 39055.
