An original oak cased Admiral Fitzroy 'polytechnic' barometer with daily weather markers, fully restored and working c.1890. The polished golden oak case with circular frame around the scale window and carved decoration below. The case below with brass plate to the top is engraved with days of the week and adjustable bone scales behind to mark that days reading (see video). Reeded sides to the case and base pediment to the bottom. Glazed scale to the top with adjustable vernier markers for reading the barometer tube against and showing the predicted weather fo...r the relevant pressure. The glazed base section housing the mercury action barometer tube, thermometer and storm tube, both sat on original scales and fully working. Bears the makers name Joseph Davis & Co, Kennington Park Rd, London. Presented in superb condition, fully serviced and working. Measures 43" high x 12.5" wide at the dial x 3" maximum depth.
